Gaillardia pinnatifida, or Red Dome Blanketflower, is a short-lived perennial with multi-colored blooms of yellow petals and red discs that attract butterflies and other pollinators when it blooms April-October. It grows to be about 1 ft tall by 1 ft wide and is found in limestone soils on rocky slopes and plains and in open pine forests. It establishes easily from seed, requires little irrigation, and reseeds readily.
