Tagetes lemmonii, or Lemmon’s Marigold, is a fragrant native shrub found in woodland and montane habitats at 4000-8000 ft. The scent is reminiscent of other marigolds with whom it shares a genus. It is deciduous, grows up to 3 ft tall, and prefers part shade to full sun. Yellow and fragrant aster flowers attract native bees and butterflies as well as other pollinators when flowering in August through November.
