Ribes aureum, or Golden Currant, is a great plant for birds and other wildlife. Its yellow, narrowly tubular flowers bloom between March-June and provide nectar to butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. The fruits that follow are orange, red, or black and provide forage for wildlife. The golden currant grows up to 9 ft tall and can be found in moist soilds on slopes and along streambeds, in varying soil types at elevations of 4000-7000 ft. Plant in partial to full shade.
