Verbesina encelioides, or Golden Crownbeard, is a tall, sunflower-like annual with 2-inch yellow flowers. The Golden Crownbeard thrives in disturbed soils such as roadsides and heavily grazed areas and can survive in a variety of different climates. It flowers between August - October and attracts native butterflies and bees. Grows between 200-7500 ft in elevation. Requires low water use and full sun to part shade. Reseeds readily.
