Heuchera sanguinea, or Coral Bells, have a basal rosette of rounded leaves from which the taller flowering panicle emerges with many small, bell shaped red flowers. When in flower, coral bells can reach about 2 ft tall. It is found in woodland and riparian habitats growing out of rocky canyon walls and outcroppings between 3500-9500 ft. The plant blooms March-October and is pollinated by native bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Plant in partial to full shade in rocky, moist soils. Divides easily from the crown.
