Helianthus annuus, or Common Sunflower, is an annual sunflower that grows to be 6.5 ft tall and is found in disturbed soils and open sites, including roadsides and floodplains at 1,000-7,000 ft. This sunflower species has a widespread distribution and is much larger than other species in the genus. The large yellow flowers can bloom March-October, but especailly after the monsoon rains.
